SPIMEX strengthens marketing of the commodity derivatives

SPIMEX strengthens marketing in the segment of commodity derivatives by establishing the Department of Global Marketing on 01.08.2017. The key mission of the Department will be to ensure effective promotion of products and services, including the promotion of the flagship URALS deliverable futures contract.

The Department will be the communication center for customers of different business profiles and jurisdictions which are interested in efficient risk management. The main task of the newly created unit will be a promotion of a derivatives market and increase international brand awareness of SPIMEX. The Department will also operate market-maker, marketing and training programs. The unit will accompany committees’ activity and a development of international cooperation. Alexey Gerasyuk was appointed Managing Director of the International Cooperation and will oversee the newly created Department.

Alexey Gerasyuk, biography

Alexey Gerasyuk was born in 1974 in Moscow, graduated from the faculty of international relations at MGIMO of the MFA of the Russian Federation. From 1997 to 2002 he was a head of the communications in the largest Russian banks (UNEXIM, ROSBANK, MFK). In December 2002, Alexey became the Director of Information and PR at publishing house «Prof-Media» («Izvestia», «Komsomolskaya Pravda», «Soviet sport» and other media). In 2003 he was appointed Director of PR at MICEX (currently the «Moscow Exchange») and was responsible for media relations, advertising, marketing activities, charity, and sponsorship projects. In 2010 Alexey continued his career in Rosneft as Deputy Director of the Information and Advertising Department. Alexey was awarded a diploma of the President of Russia Vladimir Putin and the certificate of honor of the Chairman of the Government D. A. Medvedev for his significant contribution during preparation and holding of the XXII Olympic winter games and XI Paralympic winter games in Sochi in 2014.

Overview: SPIMEX URALS deliverable futures contract

Parameters of exchange SPIMEX contract on Russian export oil:
• Underlying Commodity: Urals crude oil;
• Execution of contract: supply of crude oil on FOB Primorsk port;
• Contract volume: 1,000 barrels;
• Deliverable: 720 thousand barrels (100 thousand tons);
• Contract currency: US Dollar.

SPIMEX URALS deliverable futures contract for Russian export crude was launched in November 2016. Working together with the Russian Government, Russian oil majors and global trading houses, SPIMEX aims to create a new risk management and trading tool without reference to other oil benchmarks.

In the first half of 2017 a number of trades contracts with the deliverable futures contract reached 3.2 thousand, total volume equals 3.2 million barrels, 160.8 million USD. Russian and foreign companies participate in trading.
